The Cleveland Launcher XL270 driver is among the lightest drivers in golf – powered by the lightest shaft ever played on the PGA tour, the Miyazaki C. Kua 39 series. This means it’s engineered for maximum head speed, but its traditionally-weighted 460cc clubhead also provides amazing forgiveness. The 270 is also available in a Draw version, with heel biased weighting and a slightly closed face for slice reduction. Players who have tested either version of the XL270 have experienced a real “Wow factor” due to the effortless distance achieved.
Weight can’t be blindly removed from a golf club – it must be done in a balanced manner. Cleveland calls this Right Way Engineering. Each Ultralite has a unique grip, shaft and clubhead in order to achieve a specific performance.
Lighter is faster when it comes to the entire club, but there are diminishing returns in removing weight from the clubhead itself. Since mass is needed in the head for power and forgiveness, the Ultralite drivers feature traditionally weighted clubheads, subtly varied to achieved desired total club weights.
Achieving tour-quality performance in an ultralite club weight demanded the use of authentic after0markey shafts. Each Ultralite Miyazaki shaft has a unique weight, flex profile and balance point specifically selected to achieve effective Right Weight Fitting.
The Cleveland Launcher Ultralite Series consists of 3 Weights – 310g, 290g and 270g – each model engineered for unique performance and feel. The Right Weight fitting system finds the right driver for every player, maximizing distance gains and overall playability.
